Uncharted
I hurl myself into Thursday like a roguish rock to a window,
hell-bent on chaos. I look at the fragments of my calendar,
its empty panes haunting and vertiginous. As in, they give me
vertigo. I went too far into the week before I thought
to chart the week. I didn’t plan ahead to plan ahead.
I wandered into the wilderness
before I remembered to draw a map.
Consider this your reminder to plan out your week, if it suits you. I always feel much more grounded when I have a plan—even when I close up my notebook and don’t look at it again until weeks later. A botched or abandoned plan, for an Emily like me during a pandemic, is better than no plan at all.
