Hereās the thing:
in order to do the thing
you want to do,
you have to do the thing.
You have to be awful at it,
and keep doing it anyways.Look in the mirror and say,
yes, I am hungover or angry
or crusty or drawing
every blank in the world,
but I must do this thing.
Some days itās painful;
youāll yell about how you donāt want to.
Do what it takes to say you did it:
even if it turns out so abstract
that a balloon wouldnāt bump into it.Practice it, nurture it.
And then get better.Or donāt, and enjoy it anyway.
Sometimes it is this simple; sometimes itās not. That āthingā thatās on your wishlistāis it perhaps as simple as starting?
I love your high school poem!
