On laundry day 🧺
The clothesline
There are fewer belly laughs
in an hour than you’d like,
but laundry fills up time
to the brim of the lint trap.No matter how many or few,
chores will use up a body.
What if we let the socks languish,
what if we let the shirts shirts go?Let’s stretch ourselves out
in the open air, crisp and
wrinkled from the sun, the smell
of cares rising up and awayinto the breeze.
I’m trying to do one *small* thing each day—like wipe down the bathroom sink. Inevitably, that small thing turns into a fully clean bathroom before I know it. But there’s a time—there’s always a time—that I must stop and enjoy my life, even if it’s chaos or cluttered or crusty.
