Judge not, lest... 👩⚖️
Those days I carried judgment
as both my sword and my shield.
I thought harshness made me brave.
But love, instead, asks us to lay down
our accoutrements and rest
in the quiet presence of another person.the more you settle into your own heart,
the more you’ll feel at peace in any setting;
Before you cast into the battlefield
of your next judgment, ask:
is there more I can do in my own heart?And, will this judgment heal what’s hurting?
I’m thinking about the judgment that consumes you; the judgment that has you peeking over the neighbor’s hedge to see if you can guess how much they spent on their new grill—that kind of stuff. Will it help you? Unless you’re in the grill business, I’m going to guess probably not. The same goes for self-judgment—it’s just as toxic.
