I lost, so I forced a laugh.
Instead of a red-
hot rage or flush
of self-hatred,
I squeezed
my stomach
and wheezed
a little chuckle.Each ha
got easier
my belly practiced
in laughter, tightened
with joy upon every failure.Until I found myself laughing
instead of lashing out in anger.
Iβve learned to rewire some of my negative responses into neutral onesβand sometimes even joyful ones. I wonder if there are more reactions I can soften?
